TAKEOVER is a feature-lenght action thriller starring multi-hyphenate actor and entertainer Quavo (Atlanta, Black-ish, Wash Me in the River) and Billy Zane (Titanic).

NIGHT OF THE COOTERS is a western sci-film based

on Howard Waldrop's 1987 sci-fi novel of the same name.

Executive produced by George RR Martin (Game of Thrones creator) directed by and starring Vincent D'Onofrio

(Law and Order Criminal Intent, Daredevil, Hawkeye) and produced by Trioscope.

The film won Best Sci-Fi at the LA Shorts festival and is currently screening at film festivals around the world.

After couple of years in business, we decided it was time to create our own short to demonstrate the creative vision behind CheckpointVFX.

The motivation behind this short film was to showcase different aspects of our creative process, pipeline, story development, designing unique visual concepts and using new tools.

"USS Callister" is the first episode of the 4th series of the series Black Mirror. Written by series creator Charlie Brooker and William Bridges and directed by Toby Haynes. It first aired on Netflix, along with the rest of the series four, on 29 th December 2017.

CheckpointVFX was tasked to model and texture both spaceships, the USS Callister and the Valdeck. Both spaceships are modelled and textured in mind to support 4k close-up shots.

Combining a mix of real-life stories and fictional interviews, National Geographic's MARS takes viewers on a simulated journey into space, telling the story of the first manned mission to the red planet.

CheckpointVFX was trusted with modeling and texturing a large number of 3D assets for

MARS season 1  & 2.

CheckpointVFX had the opportunity to design and create over 500 graphics for Travel Channel's investigating-adventure series

"Expedition Bigfoot" over the course of

4 seasons with 49 captivating episodes. 



CHECKPOINTVFX is in business since 2016 and was founded by Andras Kavalecz, a veteran CG Supervisor and CG Artist with over 30 years of experience in visual arts. CHECKPOINTVFX is located in Burlingame, California USA and has contributed to a wide range of projects starting with Asset Creations for National Graphics MARS and LookDevelopment for STRANGER THINGS Season 1. Early 2024 CHECKPOINTVFX has successfully finished 1680 CG Shots for the feature film "TAKEOVER" directed by Greg Jonkaytis and produced by Trioscope Studios.

  • - modeling (hardsurface, organic) in Maya, Modo, Blender and such

  • - UVing (distortion free, UDIMS)

  • - texturing using Mari or Substance Painter

  • - basic animation experience 

  • - Material / Shader setups

  • - Layout and render setup 

  • - Lighting 

  • - Scene and Render management of shots
